Speaking Engagements

Jordan Abshire has presented at Harvard, UVA, Duke, UNC, American, Catholic, and Charlotte law schools.  His presentations have centered on networking. Specific networking topics include navigating law firm receptions and bar association events; using job databases, LinkedIn, and other online resources to make warm calls; and making effective cold-calls.

Jordan has also presented “state of the market” reports to recruiting departments and law student groups.   Presentations include historic and current lateral job opening data, market penetration by particular firms or law school alumni, and hiring trend assessment.

Jordan has also organized and spoken on panels geared toward associates and partners.   These panels have focused on using social media for business and career development.  Additionally, Jordan moderated a panel of General Counsel that addressed the effect of the recession on the in-house/outside counsel relationship.

We welcome requests for speaking engagements and panel participation.

Holly Duke, Director of Career Counseling, UVA Law:

“Jordan is both a gifted speaker and a pleasure to work with.  You will find him extremely flexible yet well-prepared and always professional.  I particularly appreciated the way he went out of his way to spend time speaking individually with our students before and after his presentation at UVA Law.”

William F. Young, Partner, Hunton & Williams LLP:

“Jordan's presentation at the Master Class on Working a Room at Harvard Law School was engaging, well prepared and provided valuable insights and guidance for the students participating in the program.  It set the stage nicely for the practice session on mixing and mingling that followed.”
